Honest comparison
Hostd vs Hostinger
A self-managed VPS with a game panel on top, not a managed Minecraft host. That difference decides whether it suits you.
Where Hostinger is strong
- Full root access on a KVM VPS. You can run a proxy network, several servers, Docker, a Discord bot and a map renderer on one box, or repurpose it entirely. No managed Minecraft host lets you do that.
- Generous allocations for the money: the entry plan is 4 GB with 50 GB of NVMe and 4 TB of bandwidth, and the top plan is 32 GB with 400 GB of disk.
- A dedicated IP is included on every tier, including the cheapest, which several specialist hosts charge for.
- A 30-day money-back guarantee that names the Game Panel product explicitly, which is longer than almost anyone in game hosting. Upgrades are excluded from it, and renewals are not clearly covered.
- AMD EPYC with NVMe storage on a 1 Gbps network, plus a public API and CLI if you want to automate.
Where Hostd wins
Somebody answers when the server breaks
Hostinger describe the product as self-managed: their support covers the VPS, not your modpack crash, your plugin conflict or your falling TPS. Diagnosing those is your job. Ours is a managed game host, and crashes come with an explanation in plain English.
The RAM figure means the same thing on both sides
Their number is whole-VPS memory, so the guest operating system and the panel take their share before Java sees any. Our figure is the memory reserved for your server.
No two-year cheque to get the headline price
Hostinger's advertised rate requires 24 months paid upfront in a single charge, $167.76 for the entry plan, and renewal is a further two-year term at a higher rate. Ours is monthly, and hibernation is there if you want to pause.
RAM sizes that match what packs need
Their ladder is 4, 8, 16 and 32 GB. A pack wanting 10 GB puts you on a 16 GB plan. Ours runs 3, 6, 10 and 14 GB, and the plan builder goes anywhere from 2 to 24, so you buy what the pack actually asks for.
Backups daily and included
Weekly backups come free with Hostinger and daily backups cost $6 a month on top, which is most of the entry plan price again, retaining two daily and two weekly copies. Ours are daily and in the plan.
Pricing at comparable specs
Minecraft Java pricing, monthly billing. Hostd rows show our actual plan tiers; competitor rows show their closest-RAM plan. See /pricing for our other games.

Their column shows the renewal rate, which is what you pay ongoing. The advertised prices are lower and require 24 months paid upfront in one charge, after which renewal runs between 1.5 and 2.1 times the promotional rate and is itself quoted as another two-year term. Their struck-through "regular price" is higher again than the renewal, so the discount is measured against a rate nobody actually pays. Two things make a straight RAM comparison misleading: their figure is whole-VPS memory rather than memory for your server, and their ladder has only four rungs, so 6, 10 and 14 GB requirements all force a step up. If you want root access and are happy administering a Linux box, Hostinger is a reasonable buy and we are the wrong product for you.
