How much RAM does an ARK: SA server need?
12 GB is the working minimum for ASA - below that the server OOMs during world load. 12 GB handles a small tribe comfortably (Standard, 30 slots). 16 GB suits a busy community with a full mod stack (Pro, 45 slots). 20 GB is the right call for big public servers with heavy mods (Elite, 60 slots) - ASA holds every entity, structure, and dino in memory, so headroom is your friend.
How do I install mods?
Open the Mods tab on your server, search the CurseForge catalogue (we proxy the official API), tick what you want, save. The ASA dedicated server downloads and activates them on next boot - no SteamCMD, no manual files. Up to 30 mods per server.
Which version of ARK is this?
ARK: Survival Ascended (Steam app 2430930) - the Unreal 5 remaster with first-class CurseForge mod support. We don't host the older Survival Evolved.
Can I run a cluster?
You can deploy multiple ASA servers on your account, each on its own map, but cross-server character/dino transfer (the cluster file share) isn't wired up out of the box yet. Reach out via support if you need a cluster set up and we'll help configure it.
Can I change the map?
Yes - The Island ships as the default (TheIsland_WP). Other official maps and mod maps can be swapped via the in-panel config; restart applies the change.
Can I tune stats and rates via GameUserSettings.ini?
Yes. Edit GameUserSettings.ini and Game.ini directly through the Files tab or the in-panel editor; restart to apply.
Can I bring my ASA save from another host?
Yes. Zip or tar.gz your Saved/SavedArks folder (the .ark world files), Saved/Config (your GameUserSettings.ini and Game.ini), and any per-map subfolders, then upload via the Transfer step at checkout (new server) or the Transfer tab in your dashboard (existing server). Up to 10 GB. We snapshot the volume first and auto-rollback if anything fails. See /transfer for details.
