What does "Outdated client! Please use 1.21.1" mean?

Older clients are being turned away. Players on older game versions are kicked with an outdated-client message. ViaVersion alone only lets newer clients join older servers, not the reverse. If you want older clients in, add ViaBackwards (and ViaRewind for pre-1.9) matching your ViaVersion. Otherwise this is just an old client and nothing is wrong.
